Consider the effectiveness of the project, considering each component and reflecting on your learning experience as well as the impact on the school or community:
Being able to be involved in such a wonderful initiative has been both an eye opener and a privilege as realising how positively this community driven project has impacted everyone involved is inspiring. Furthermore, this project has taught me that the smallest actions can have such a positive impact on everyone involved. Therefore, the project taught me that we could change someone's life one top at a time.
The successes and challenges of the project:
Even though this social action project was an overall success, it was definitely not without its challenges. The challenges included opening the communities minds and hearts to collect such simple everyday recyclable items. The small act of collecting these items could potentially change another persons life. Furthermore, once this resonated with the school and community, we were well on our way to reaching our goal. In addition, this social action project opened the eyes of the learners and made them realise that they can make a difference in somebody's life even if they do not know them.
How has service-learning changed you personally?
I have grown a substantial appreciation for the fact that one individuals' trash can really be another person's treasure, and we are able to make the difference in a personal capacity. Whereby, this has opened my eyes as to realising how something small can make such a big difference and change somebody's life forever with a wheelchair.
How has service-learning developed you professionally? What new knowledge, skills, and/or attitudes have you gained?
Professionally, I have grown and been inspired to grow others. Whereby, if we can teach young children to make these changes from now, they too can be more conscientious human beings with other individuals in mind. Furthermore, my interpersonal skills have developed and I have learned that one small change can make a big difference in somebody's else's life. In addition, I have acquired a more positive attitude as this social action project has shown me that people do want to make a difference and give wherever they can which gives hope for the future generations.
Describe the benefit of this initiative to the school and comment on its sustainability:
This is an incredibly sustainable project as it is the collection of everyday recyclable items that are utilised and disposed of. Thus, the benefit of this initiative is that it is highlighting the recycling process (Re-use, Re-duce, and Re-cycle). However, with focus on re-suing rather than disposal of plastic bottle caps and re-using them for an alternative usage. Furthermore, this is seen as an ongoing project within the community as there are countless people needing wheelchairs. Therefore, the benefit to the school is that they stay socially engaged with the community and in touch with the people around them. Furthermore, the parent and community involvement in this project was amazing and helped make a difference in somebody's life.
This is the goal reached during the social action project:

This is such an important initiative and I am so proud of how you carried this out and inspired your students to care for our planet! I can tell that you are going to do great things in your future. Well done, Tyla!
